Original Marines is the main sponsor of the international Giffoni Film Festival, where children and young people from Italy and across the globe take centre stage and sit on the jury. They watch the films in the competition and discuss them with directors, writers and actors, then choose the winners.
The 46th edition of the festival will take place in Giffoni Valle Piana (near Salerno) from 15 to 24 July and the theme will be “destination”. Original Marines is making the t-shirts for the youngest and most colourful, numerous, cheerful and multi-ethnic jury in the world.
The tops worn by the 4,150 young jurors combine the quality of Original Marines with the creativity of the international illustrator and cartoonist Gary Baseman, who was named by Entertainment Weekly magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world of entertainment.
The decision to use white t-shirts was not just made by chance: it is a link to the history of the brand, which sold more than 25 million t-shirts “like the marines wear” between its launch in 1983 and 1992.
The partnership for this project is built on Original Marines’ solid roots in Campania and its ability to convey its values in a setting that perfectly embodies the identity of the brand, as underlined by its marketing manager Domenico Romano:
“The sponsorship deal with the Giffoni Film Festival has enabled us to give an Original look to the youngest and biggest jury in the world. Like Original Marines, the Giffoni Film Festival was launched in Campania and it is now a unique, original international exponent of excellence. Our role as a main partner of the Giffoni Film Festival will allow us to spread the word about our values: creativity and the importance of playing and spending time together. Most importantly, it will enable us to emphasize how big a part children play in the world today in the eyes of Original Marines. They represent not only our country’s future but also its present.”
